Does Male Love Wait?

Spread the love

Going back to Steve Harvey’s list of how men love, I don’t know why he didn’t say, if a man loves you, he will wait. Of course, love is such an ambiguous word. What is love to Steve Harvey may look different from the love you or I imagine. Steve Harvey’s type of love can claim a woman without committing to her. He says if he claims you as his baby’s mother, you are well on your way to…what I’m not sure. (Forgive me if there’s more to come but I’m only commenting up to Chapter Three right now).

It reminds me of a time I was at lunch with a couple of ladies and one of them brought up her cousin who had decided to wait until marriage to have sex. She rhetorically asked, “Does she really think he is going to wait?” She laughed at her cousin’s “outdated” idea of dating.

I have thought about her comment for years. In one comment she claimed that there are no men who are willing to wait, she did not think that a women could command that type of love from a man, and she did not feel she was worth the wait. Does love include the sacrifice of waiting for both men and women? Who know, perhaps the sacrifice of the wait is the foundation of marital faithful.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her…” Ephesians 5:25
