R u Ms. Right?

We spend a great deal of energy trying to attract Mr. Right, dressing ourselves to turn his gaze in our direction. If we can only grab his attention, then we can capture his heart. And if we can capture his heart, then. . . Then what? Then, the real work begins. That’s what.

While it is true that it takes a good man to build a strong relationship, it is also true that it is possible to have a bad relationship with a good man. Why? Because even after we capture his heart, we have to learn to be his companion. To love our Mr. Right, we have to learn to put aside years of negative media messages about men and, perhaps, our own hurtful experiences from one or more “not so good men.” Relationships don’t work just because “he’s a good guy.” They work because we work—we work at seeing clearly, we work at communicating, we work at being positive.

If you’re in a committed relationship with a good man, but you’re having a hard time being a good companion, you may need to reframe your thoughts. Philippians 4: 8-9 admonishes us as follows: “. . . whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. . . . and the God of peace will be with you.”
