My Worth is Not in a Man, but in God

Spread the love

Many times, during my college years, I felt lonely.  I was the only one who didn’t have a steady boyfriend.  So, when I went out to parties, I typically tagged along with friends and their boyfriends or spent time with my friends when their boyfriends were busy.  I longed to have a boyfriend for myself as it seemed that my life would be so much better with one.  However, the boyfriend that came along was not the one for me.  I lowered my standards and expected my boyfriend to fill my void.  Ultimately, my emptiness remained.  I had to learn that the boyfriend wasn’t the solution to my problem.

Maybe loneliness is not your issue, what about trust?  The men in your life have left you or never consistently fulfilled their promises.  All the women around make sure everyone knows how worthless those men are.  So you begin to believe that if these men who should love you cannot be trusted, how can you possibly trust someone you are dating?  So you never allow a relationship to progress long enough for him disappoint you.

Maybe you struggle with not feeling attractive or smart enough.  You convince yourself that if this great looking guy dates you, then you will be somebody.  These scenarios and many other scenarios are real to many women.  However, a boyfriend is not the solution to your issues, a relationship with God is.  Take time to know the woman in the mirror and address your issues before dating. God loves you and knows your worth right now. He will heal your hurts and make you whole.

Psalm 139:13-14

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
