Patience My Pretty

Temporary fixes only work temporarily. Sorry for stating the obvious. In fact, we sometimes live our lives in temporary mode unawares.

Admittedly, temporary mode may feel easier. In temporary mode we get to satisfy our desires immediately. In contrast living in possibility mode means we have taken the time to invest in our future so that when tomorrow comes with it comes its possibilities. Temporary thrills come fast and fleeting. They require little patience and frequent restocking.

Living in possibility mode requires hard work. For example, investing in a relationship is different than hooking up. As you make decisions contemplate the possible results of your actions.

The most important decision you can ever make is about your eternal future. Jesus says that a decision to follow Him requires considerable sacrifice. Count the cost.

For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him… Luke 14:28-30

Contrary to some teachings a relationship with the Lord only definitely changes our status with God from sinner to saint. It may not increase our bank balance but He promises us an abundant life. God may immediately fix a situation in our lives but not necessarily. A relationship with the Lord is for the long haul. Proceed with patience. Just think of the possibilities!
