Jesus > Temptation
I was spending time thinking about the Bible verse in Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
I pondered, what does it mean to have been tempted and not sin?
I don’t know what your greatest temptations are but could it mean He looked at a good looking woman and just stopped at admiring her as one of God’s creations? Does it mean that Jesus never gave in and ate multiple pieces of cake for dessert or binge on chocolate when He had a rough day? Does it mean that He never went on a shopping spree and spent more money than He had? Maybe He never considered calling in “sick” when He was just too tired or worn down to go to work that day? Did He always find an appropriate way to tell someone the truth instead of lying to them- so you won’t hurt their feelings?
Yes! Jesus was presented with the situations that we deal with daily and ALWAYS had the correct response. Sometimes we feel that there are certain people we can go to when we are faced with a difficult situation because they have dealt with that situation in the past and managed the situation well. They can relate. Isn’t it great to know that Jesus, our High Priest, our spiritual leader, can relate to EVERYTHING we are going through because He went through it too and made it! The next time you are struggling with whatever is tempting you, call out to Jesus and rely on His strength to overcome the temptation.
