Here is an invitation you can’t refuse
I am going to answer the question: did Jesus die for all or just for some? Let’s look at it in terms of a mathematical word problem that would include the following two Scriptures regarding what all people needed and what Jesus did for all people. Roman 5:8 says: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 3:23 says: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” If we are speaking in mathematical terms and thinking of these verses from the Bible in terms of being in a “word problem”, the question to solve is who is the invitation addressed to?
Sometimes word problems have a hint, our hint would be Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth. “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” After reading this I would say that Jesus sent a worldwide invitation. However, like any other event that we attend, the responsibility of the invitation falls on the person receiving it once it has been addressed and sent.
While Jesus died for all our sins, everyone does not accept the invite. Jesus gives us a choice. No one feels joy when forced to attend an event. Likewise, Jesus invites us to confess our sins and believe that He is the Son of God but He doesn’t force us, it is a relationship not dictatorship.
In conclusion, the solution to the word problem is (drum roll please), Jesus gave an open invitation. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. You are invited!
