Let’s Remember the Reason for the Season

Dear ones, many of you will wrap your Christmas gifts for loved ones with decorative bows, colorful paper and shimmering gift bags. You will do this because you want to show them through your gift that they are special to you and as such, you took time to personalize their gift. This is exactly what God, our heavenly Father did for the whole world, when He gave us the gift of salvation in the personification of His Son Jesus Christ.

If you doubt that you are loved this holiday season, reflect on God’s gift to you and the whole world; “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only [begotten] Son [Jesus], that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Your gift, Jesus, is not an afterthought or a regifted throw away. Your gift was not found in a bargain basement. Your gift was prepared before the foundation of the world, that is, Jesus was prepared for you, before time began! Hallelujah. That is how much God loves you!

When reflecting on our gift, (Jesus), let us sing like the angels, “Glory to God in the highest. Peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind” (Luke 2:14). Jesus Christ truly is the reason for the season.
