Finding Peace in the Midst of Life’s Adversities
COVID, inflation, earthquakes, wars, loneliness, suicides, fires, family estrangements, car accidents, murders, and the list goes on of the possible issues life throws at us. How are you doing mentally, physically, and emotionally? If you’re not careful, you can easily fall into depression or discouragement. Do you find yourself thinking, “What did I do to deserve this?”
Find Peace in the Midst of Your Storms
Though things happen, let me not leave you in a valley of despair. While we are maneuvering our way through much adversity, we can find peace in the midst of our storms. We, with our finite minds, cannot understand and solve certain issues we face. Many of our answers will come from where we put our trust. Where is your trust? Is it in your material goods, in people, in your own strength? I know life dishes out so many problems, but I have learned and am still learning that these problems are quite solvable when we commit them to the right source.
So, What Can We Do?
First, realize that we live in a broken world. In its beginning, Earth was a beautiful, trouble-free place until the first couple (Adam & Eve) decided to disobey the Earth’s Creator (God) and obey God’s adversary (Satan). As a result, a curse overtook the world and all generations of humanity born afterwards. You can read this account in the Bible (Genesis chapter 3).
Next, we need to put our trust in our Creator (God) through His son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is described as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Psalm 20:7 states that some trust in chariots and horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord. In other words, all things will fail us, but God. We are encouraged to not worry about anything, but to pray and receive the peace of God which surpasses all human understanding ( Philippians 4:6-7). While in this life we will have tribulations,at the same time, we can have peace if we trust in Jesus Christ who overcame the world (John 16:33).
You can have joy and peace through believing and trusting Jesus Christ whom we celebrate during the season of Easter which reminds us of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.
