The Perfect Gift

Christmas! Valentine’s Day! My Birthday! Mother’s Day! Father’s Day! Just Because! All of these events have us running looking for the perfect gift. We want to give something that will be cherished. When my children were little, I spent five hours wrapping gifts which the children opened in less than one minute. These gifts which I thought were so wonderful were discarded so they could play in the card board boxes that held the gifts.

Later, as I began to look for a gift for my children, I realized that in James 1:17 – Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

There is no better gift than one God gave us. As we give love to each other unconditionally we are presenting a gift that will go beyond anything we can purchase in a store or by way of Internet. Remember, real love comes from God; it cannot be purchased but is given freely.

As you seek that perfect gift this year, just give real love for it will be the gift that will last all year.
