Let’s Do It Tonight!

I haven’t decided whether my new cycling class is a fickle resolution to get physically fitness, or a lifestyle change. However, according to statistics about one third of people who make New Year’s resolutions don’t last past January. While I wait to see how long I last, I’ll continue to let the music inspire me.

According to the cycling song of the week, we might not have tomorrow. As I peddle to the beat, the singer tells his prey that he wants EVERYTHING and he wants IT tonight! I am saying to myself, he must be kidding if he thinks anybody would fall for that line. But as I consider his request, the fact is that he is telling the truth. Life guarantees no one breath tomorrow. I guess this is his dying wish.

Living in the urgency of the moment puts a different spin on reality. The song indirectly poses a question. If we thought we would take our last breath tonight, what would we give our energies towards?

The Lord Jesus tells a story about ten young women which He uses to give us a proper perspective of living in the moment. Five of the young women prepared for life after death. However, the other five realized they were unprepared too late. The Lord’s response to them was, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour. (Matthew 25:12,13)

Live life urgently!
