One of the social issues of this election is abortion rights. There are many reasons why people have abortions. Some people don’t want the embarrassment that goes along with an unwanted pregnancy. Others don’t want lose their figure. Some don’t want to lose their time, money, and sleep for a child. Some are concerned about how a child will affect their future, and how they will support themselves. Some parents will not continue to support them and the child.

I was reading an article on www.livestrong.com that stated that sexually active teens who, do not use contraceptives, have a 90 percent chance of getting pregnant. In addition, if you are sexually active and using birth control, there are times when the birth control can fail, causing you to become pregnant. Out of the unwanted teenage pregnancies, 35 percent have abortions, according to the National Abortion Federation. We have to ask why are we in the predicament in the first place. If we don’t have premarital sex, we won’t have an unwanted pregnancy and then we won’t have to consider abortion.

Today we feel that we have to try things out as part of our decision to marry someone. We are led to believe that we may not like sex with our potential husband, so we have to have sex before marriage to make sure we are a good match. I challenge you to think otherwise. At some point, you have to take time to determine what you like and don’t like. You just did it with numerous people. Ephesians 5:28 says “In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” Consider patiently waiting for that kind of husband.
