Poltics: Fear of the Future pt.1 by Lauren D. Smith
I understand what it feels like to be bombarded by politics concerning this presidential election everywhere you go. In the last Presidential election, I turned 18 years old a month before voting. I was excited but I was also frustrated because I didn’t want to vote for a candidate who would create more problems for our country instead of solving them. Of course, my frustration led to worry and anxiety about my future.
However, like you, I had forgotten a very important principal as a believer: God is the ultimate ruler. God is the one who created the Earth and He is the only one who was there before all things were created and will be there after everything is gone. Although it may be difficult to make your choice, whether that’s to vote for Mitt Romney or President Barack Obama, remember God is the one who will take care of you. So do not place your life into the hands of these candidates but be confident in God because he sees everything and knows everything. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
These candidates have made many promises to fix the problems in the country but it is guaranteed that they will not fulfill them all. The amazing thing about God is that every promise He makes, He fulfills. If you are a child of God, then realize that God will work everything out for your good. That doesn’t mean things will happen the way you want them to but that everything serves a purpose to help you grow as a believer.
