Macaroni and cheese. Sweet Potatoes with marshmallows. Collard Greens. Turkey. Stuffing. Cranberry Sauce. Fluffy Biscuits. Did you notice something that was missing from this captivating image? Fruit. The fruit I am referring to is the kind you can’t digest physically but describes characteristics that resembles more of Christ. Christ gave us His Spirit to withstand our flesh and be our present help wherever we go. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

It is the product of reading His word and applying those principles in our lives, which is how God speaks to us, His children and how we grow. Think about it. Kids need to eat healthy so they can grow big and strong. The Fruit of the Spirit works the same way. We, as children of God, need to read the Word because it’s a necessity for survival and will help us grow and mature.

When we refuse to read his Word or ignore Him, it gives opportunity for our Flesh and the Enemy, Satan to attack, internally. To stay alert, we must digest His word daily so we can be prepared for the challenges we face. Remember, God is our Father and wants us to grow healthy but we first must trust Him. So while you eat breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert, remember not to neglect your spiritual stomach that needs to be fed too.
