After Christmas Sales!
You spent all your money for gifts for others, now it is your time. After Christmas sales! All the stores have them, additional percentages off to get you in to buy, buy, buy! You did not realize how much you needed that new outfit especially at that price, boots so discounted you cannot pass them up! Maybe you can find something to go with them because, like everything else, it is on sale.
What’s wrong with buying things on sale? Everything if you have to charge the sale items, or break your budget to purchase them, then there is a problem. You are spending money you don’t have. Philippians 4:12 says: “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” What does it mean to be content? To be content means I am satisfied with what I have.
Why should you care about that? Well, first of all peace. If you are spending money you don’t have, then at some point, you have to pay it back. This may be a credit card bill that is higher than you realized and now the minimum payment is so high that you don’t have as much money for food or to go out with your friends in those new clothes. Maybe instead of buying something new, look in your closet and see how you can create a new outfit with the clothes and shoes that are already in there.
