How can we be content with all of the commercials and ads telling us that we should not be content? One way I stay financially content is to minimize my exposure to temptations. I stay out of the stores when I do not have money budgeted for shopping. I plan meals and go to the grocery store with a list based on those meals. I keep my shoes longer as opposed to upgrading when there is a new fad. I eat before going to the movies to limit the extra money spent on the already expensive movie, or mainly I wait until the movie comes out at Redbox! I use coupons and watch for sales.

You would be surprised to know that many rich people do similar things. Not the mega rich superstars and athletes, but the newly rich, the ones who worked to become rich and want to stay that way. They control their spending and budget. Yes, they may have more to spend than you and me, but the habits you learn and implement now will help you join them in the future.

The Bible says in Philippians 4:12-13: “ I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” Yes it is God who gives us the ability to be content when everyone around us is not, look to Him to strengthen you.
