God’s Plan
It’s so common today to hear about the celebrities, NFL players and even everyday people who have issues with physically harming their girlfriends or wives. Now there are even videos of some of these encounters shown on the news.
These stories are hard to listen to and hear about. But think about how hard it is for these women to live in fear on a daily basis. Fear that something is wrong with them and they struggle to figure out how to “fix it” so that the man who says he loves them will stop treating them so badly. Fear that someone will find out when they move the wrong way and someone catches a glimpse of the bruises on their arm or their makeup rubs off slightly revealing bruises. Fear that they are going to be alone and broke.
Understand, this is not how God designed the family. The family should be your safe zone, the place where we grow both physically and spiritually. A family is a place where we build each other up. God did not design marriage to be a place of fear. Ephesians 5:28 says: “In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” I do not see men abusing their own body so he should not be abusing yours.
Ladies, if you feel that you are in an abusive relationship, seek help immediately. Domestic violence is getting a lot more attention these days and there are more resources available. For your safety, please use them. Remember, God loves you and you are not alone.
