Trying to Find the Perfect Gift?
As I roam aimlessly through the stores with a list of people that I need to purchase gifts for, but no clear idea of what the actual gifts will be, I start to wonder if I will ever find the perfect gifts. You see, shopping and gifts are not my calling so I struggle to decide what the recipient will enjoy. This task becomes even harder as I try to purchase gifts for people who seem to have everything!
When I go to purchase a gift, I have many decisions to make, such as how much to spend on the person? Do I know them that well? How much are they going to spend on my gift? How many other gifts do I have to buy? I thank God that He did not have the same problem I do. God knew exactly what we needed, even those people who have everything! He gave us His only Son Jesus.
God did not have to do that for us, but because He loved us so much, He felt we deserved the most precious and priceless gift He had, His one and only Son. The Bible says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Through Jesus, God gave us eternal life.
As I go through the Christmas season, instead of focusing on the chaos in the stores, I need to shift my focus to Jesus. It is an opportunity to pass on to someone else the wonderful, precious, perfect gift God so graciously gave to me.
