God’s Wonderful Creations

I wonder about how my different my life would be if I didn’t have children.  You see, I had my son two years after graduating from college.  I had just started my career when my focus had to change from job to baby.  While some were climbing the corporate ladder, I was climbing ladders at the playground.  Did it affect my career path, yes!  I slowly learned to move past the frustration of the unexpected change, and slow down and enjoy the time with my son as he was growing up.

Four years later, my husband and I decided to expand our family and this time we decided to adopt.  One fall morning while I was at work, I got the call we had been waiting for, a baby was going to be placed in our home.  A beautiful healthy baby girl.  Her mother had given birth and left her at a safe haven.  Even though at some time during the pregnancy she knew she would not be able to keep her baby, she kept herself healthy and free from drugs and alcohol.  She sacrificed her body for nine months so one of God’s miracles would be born.

Both times children were born at unplanned, inconvenient times, but I praise God that they are here on this earth.  Psalms 139:13-16 says:

“For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.”

This Scripture reminds me that no one is an accident in God’s eyes.  We are His wonderful creations, just like an artist painting a masterpiece.  He has a plan for each of His children, before they ever are born.
