Is Life Valuable?
Is life valuable? Sometimes I wonder how some people would answer that question, like the man who stabbed the night clerk at the gas station for no apparent reason. Or the man convicted of killing a small child? I wonder what each person who shoots a gun into a crowd while aiming at one person would say? How valuable is life to someone who doesn’t think twice about taking someone else’s life? Why can’t people find alternative methods for solving disputes or dealing with their anger?
It makes me wonder, what are they missing? Some would say that they didn’t have the love and guidance of good parents. Others would say that maybe they grew up around violence and have never been taught another way to solve problems or deal with their anger. I would say they are missing Jesus.
Believing in Jesus as my personal Savior helps me to renounce things that are not like God. Titus 2:11-12 says “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ”No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,”. So I don’t always act in anger and lash out when people get on my nerves. Instead, I strive to follow Romans 12:18 : ”live at peace with everyone.” It’s challenging to live at peace with some people as they can be hard to get along with. But I know God gives me the strength to face the challenge.
So how do we get people to change their view of life? How do we get people to think of others instead of themselves? The answer is Jesus.
