BRB, Trying to Figure out What God Wants for My Life
Pressure, pressure, pressure – coming from all angles and, seemingly, coming from others to control your life! Sometimes the pressure may be coming from meaningful people in our lives – our parents, coworkers, peers, bosses and the list goes on… How do you cope with it when it becomes a little overwhelming?
Pleasing people can be quite taxing. We need to be careful because sometimes we try to gain the respect and acceptance of others by fulfilling their expectations, only to our own hurt. Now there are times when others can help us “raise the bar,” or lower it, but the more we know who we are and what our aspirations are, the less pushy influences affect us. Therefore, we must seek to know ourselves – what is good for us and what is not. The best way to do so is to seek the counsel of God, the One who created us.
Psalm 84:11 says…no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. We should strengthen our walk with God and obey Him. God’s word gives us guidance, shows us purpose, helps us set goals and expectations for our lives. Consequently, when we are faced with decisions, we can compare the advice we receive against what God has shown us through reading the Bible and praying.
Finally, establish your objectives, know your limits, avoid negative distractions, set realistic expectations, and trust God to steer you in the right direction. Those pressures that once had you bound will become minimum or may even disappear! Enjoy your new life, with Jesus at the helm of your “earthly ship” and say bye-bye to many of life’s pressures.
