Love Came Down at Christmas

Spread the love

You gaze out of your window only to see the neighborhood preparing for Christmas. Houses decorated with colorful lights, Santa and his reindeer on the front lawns and Christmas trees glowing through the front windows. Christmas music fills the airwaves. Your mind wanders during this magical time of year to all of the parties you cannot wait to attend. Have you made your Christmas list yet? No, not for Santa, but for all the people you have to get gifts for: parents, siblings, family and friends? Your list gets longer, and your time (and money) seems to be disappearing fast. You race in and out of stores, or spend all night on the Internet, trying to find just the right gifts. Why do we celebrate Christmas? Is it only about the gifts, Santa, or meeting your sweetheart right under the mistletoe according to the endless TV specials? Christmas is a time of year that shows God’s love for us. He sent His Son, Jesus, to earth so that we could have a closer relationship with Him. Not that we were acting like we loved God, but God decided to show His unending love for us. The Bible says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes on Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” So spend less money and more time with people. Share the love that was shown to you so many years ago.
