Summer Vacation

All year, I cannot wait for summer vacation. I spend a lot of time searching for the right vacation spot, whether close to home or a far away trip. I know some people like the beach where you can sit out on the sand and watch the waves lap over the shore while the sun rises over the horizon. You spend the day reading while breathing in the smell of the water with the breeze offering some cooling on a hot summer day.

For me, I like mountains with a lake to do some kayaking or canoeing while enjoying the fresh mountain air. And on a clear night, sitting with family or friends catching up on all of last years’ events while gazing at the stars that light the night sky. But a lot of the time, what is best about vacation is who you spend it with.

Reconnecting with family and friends is great and provides memorable moments that everyone cherishes forever. It is strange that one of the best vacations my family went on was at a YMCA resort which did not have a television in the room. But the four of us played games, roasted marshmallows, played mini golf and cards. Mainly, though, it was a time we spent together.

Vacation allows you to get away from your daily responsibilities and focus on the people who bring us joy.

Philippians 4:4 says: Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
