Distractions
You are heading off to work. You get in the car, plug in your phone both to the charger and to the stereo and off you go. A song you don’t feel like listening to is playing, you grab the phone to change the song, the light turns red and you have to stop quickly. At least you have time to review the next song. The light turns green. The phone rings, you check to see who is calling, “Do I really want to talk to him right now?” The car in front of you slows down to turn, you switch lanes quickly to avoid rear ending him. You start to think about what is waiting for you at work, “What time is my meeting this morning? Oh, I am about to miss my turn!” You switch lanes abruptly again and turn to the sound of horns blaring and brakes screeching!
I think a lot of us can relate to the scenario above. So much so that car manufacturers are making cars that can “see” for us and stop the car without human intervention. Cars are being designed to compensate for the distracted driver instead of encouraging people to pay more attention!
But distractions are not good. They prevent us from reaching our goals or slow down our progress. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 9:24 “ Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.“ Life is like a race. We have to focus to “win” or live a Godly life. Don’t let distractions steer you off course.
