Bad Decisions
I recently interviewed a young lady for a position at the company where I work. One of the questions I asked her was to tell me about a good decision she made and tell me about a bad decision she made. Well she rattled off the good decision and how she made it. But when it came to the bad decision, she paused and pondered her response. When she replied, she said she cannot think of a bad decision she made. Surprised by her answer, I waited eagerly for her to elaborate. She went on to say that bad decisions give her the opportunity to learn even if she learns not repeat that decision. She views it as a means of growth, not a negative experience. As I sat listening to her, my mind wandered to a Biblical truth: we can be thankful in all circumstances. At such a young age, she learned a valuable lesson that takes many people years to grasp.
Have you ever considered thanking God for bad situations, even if they are situations you are in are because of bad decisions or choices you made? Do you take the time to learn from the decisions you make? For example, if you went out too much during the week and didn’t spend the time required to prepare for your test, do you then go out less in the future?
I know it may seem strange to thank God for something like that, but try thanking Him for letting you see what needs to be changed in your life. You may then start seeing more areas of your life that could be tweaked and how much better your life can be.
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
