God’s Gift to Us
I am so glad I finished my Christmas shopping early this year. I am one of those people who hates the chaos of Christmas shopping, the packed parking lots, crowded stores and long lines, just to find the right gifts for the people I love. I try to think about what to purchase before I go out. Sometimes I browse online to get ideas then look in the stores to see if I can find the item that matches the idea that I have. Sometimes I find that item, sometimes something else catches my eye. Many times, I get a gift receipt just in case I buy the wrong size or in case the recipient is not as excited about the gift as I am.
I thank God for the gift He has given to us, the gift of His Son Jesus. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” What a wonderful gift of love. God knew exactly what we needed. He didn’t have to give us a gift receipt because we wouldn’t need to take it back.
Our Christmas gifts cost us time and money. God’s gift cost Him so much more, the life of His only Son Jesus. Why would God give us such a priceless, precious gift? Because of magnitude of His love for us. This Christmas morning, instead of racing to open the gifts your loved ones gave you, why don’t you open God’s gift and welcome Jesus into your heart today.
