What are You Praying for?

As January winds down, some of us can already look back at the broken resolutions that have perished along the very short way. This year I had an easy time figuring out one of my New Year’s resolutions. For some reason, my life has gone tossed salad on me. Just about every area of my life has joined the union and decided to go on strike. As a result, I knew taking my prayer life up a notch would be somewhere at the top of the list.

It’s been a long time since the first time I prayed to God and invited Jesus Christ into my life. Life without God’s voice in my ear was lonely and confusing. But ever since that first prayer, the ability to hear and speak with God has always been vital to my peace of mind and contentment. So when a friend of mine called with relationship issues, I jumped at the opportunity to rope her into a prayer partnership.

We started by watching the movie War Room and taking notes so that we could remember things to include in our prayer lives. For years I have refused to designate a special area for prayer, but I finally broke down and designated an area in my attic studio. We agreed to post our written prayers, relevant scriptures, and a list of answered prayers on the walls of our “war room.” We also scheduled time to pray together once a week (mostly on the phone). I’m loving every minute of it. gaL

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation…present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6,7) Song: Philippians 4:7 by Fred Hammond
