March 13th, I am thankful!  A Professional Development day at work, business as usual

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We received an email telling us to get our personal belongings and go home. Everybody thought we would be back sometime the next week. The more I watched the news reports, the more I realized I did not want to go back that next week. Governor Hogan said, “We are in a state of emergency.”

More days would pass, and several of our family members would test positive for COVID. One family member was on a ventilator. Days turned into weeks; weeks turned into a few months. How can anyone find the positive in this negative experience? But do you know that tests and trials cause us to rely on our powerful God? Seeing God’s faithfulness in action requires us to believe Him. So, we trusted God, and a host of friends and family members prayed.

Working from home, I realized that I have the opportunity to explore some of my gifts and talents. I am speaking of what’s hidden inside of each of us. We do not need a bi-weekly paycheck to motivate or inspire us. When life was a 9 to 5 routine, I had no time to explore my gifts. No time to be calm. No time to enjoy my house, family, and just quiet. God knows us, and He cares about us. He knew all about my concerns.

As it says in Jeremiah 29:11, I am thankful for God’s plans and not mine. God healed my family member; she came home. God restored my mind, body, and soul. He bestowed precious time to explore learning how to paint on canvas and plant a small garden. God has a plan for you too. He has a destiny that you cannot envision. If you will trust Him and depend on Him, He will show you. I encourage you to be grateful for the Master’s plan.

Prayer: There were so many casualties. If you and your family faced unpleasantness due to COVID-19, I pray that you found God’s love, protection, healing, comfort, and blessings in time spent with Him. If you are still hurting, God has not forgotten about you!  I am thankful you are here. Let us pause for a moment of silence and reflect on the 210,000 lives lost to COVID-19. Jesus, heal the brokenhearted, Amen.
