A Difficult Topic with Love
Sometimes I wonder why God disapproves of same sex attractions. Live and let live, right? If two people want to be together, what’s the problem? The physiology of the situation speaks volumes to me but it’s not my issue. While I am not so mindless not to wonder, I am also not so arrogant to think I know everything.
Frankly, I find no pleasure in telling somebody else what God says she needs to do or not do. It’s particularly hard in this culture to say, “God said it in the Bible, and the Bible is truth and the scientists are wrong.” It’s easier to make up ways to not to have to tell people that what they are doing is displeasing to God.
The only caveat I have to my “live and let live” rule is when someone really wants to get a Life! If that’s you, here goes…There is something in the details of same sex attractions that God knows is not good. I could comfort you by approving you in your rebellion against God while at the same time cursing your future. People who care about you will tell you the truth about your sin. (Yes, there is such a thing.) Be careful of people who attempt to supersede the wisdom of God by claiming there is an “alternative.”
So, no matter how much I don’t want to speak up…frankly, I do it because I care!
And God has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20,21
