Love is risky business
I suppose every relationship has a defining moment that signifies the beginning of forever. It’s the moment you give your heart away and trust someone else to have your best interest at heart. Being so vulnerable sounds scary. Two hearts knit together creating oneness breaks the independent spirit into pieces. Healthy dependence allows the team to achieve its goals. Pride can often make us miss out on the joy of togetherness.
I heard men are the first ones into a relationship and the first ones out. Women are supposedly the last ones in and the last ones out. I don’t know if that’s true but somebody usually puts themselves on the line first. I’ve had guys tell me that it’s hard to approach a female because of the fear of rejection. And the ladies are afraid for fear of heartbreak. But one day he takes the chance and she agrees to dance.
A relationship with God through Jesus resembles the dance of a man with a woman. The Bible says in Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. God didn’t wait for us to approach Him. He unashamedly loves us first. He unashamedly humbled Himself to woo us.
Of course that means the defining moment in our relationship with God comes when we surrender our hearts to Him because He has already declared His love for us. That might sound scary but God’s in it forever.
