Please be faithful

Spread the love

I have come to the conclusion that President Obama must be one faithful husband or we all would know otherwise. As “sexually free” as our society claims to be, why did we give Tiger such a hard time?

Regardless of the times,we still want our men to be faithful. Merriam-Webster defines faithfulness as a strong adherence to promises and duty. Translated it means, “My word is my bond.” In a relationship, promises carry the weight of our expectations. Think about it. What else do we have to give? The deepest show of love lives itself out through our willingness to stick with someone through thick and thin, whether we feel like it or not.

If our commitment to promises and duty followed the ebb and tide of hormones, we should all end up rightfully homeless and hungry. Broken promises can be especially painful in relationships. When the words out of his lips fail to match what’s going on in reality, we begin to wonder what’s really going on in his heart. For it is out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. (Matthew 12:34)

I have had to refer to Psalm 37:3 when I needed to remember that if no one else has been faithful to me that my God says I can trust Him and depend on His faithfulness. That means that God will never lie to me and that He will do what He promised He would.  I want a man who is faithful like that. What about you?
