Try It Before You Buy It
We often hear companies allowing us to try things before making a full commitment to purchase it. For example, we try on clothes and shoes while still in the store before purchasing them. Some grocery stores have samples so you can try the food before buying it. Even some car dealerships have a few days “return” policy in case after leaving the lot you decide the car is not the right car for you.
Well I am hearing more often that people are taking the same attitude toward relationships. Many people are now saying that they need to try living as a married couple before making the full commitment to become married. The reason being given is to identify flaws that you think are intolerable in your potential husband before committing to marriage.
I challenge you to change that thinking as it is against the will of God. When you find your lifelong mate, in love you will be able to work out any issues you have concerning living as a married couple. While you are dating, ask the right questions and make sure you talk about things that are important to you because he is going to do some things differently from you. If you are a neat freak, talk about how clean your mate is. Ask if he picks up his clothes, makes the bed, puts his dishes in the dishwasher.
Watch his actions and pray for God to reveal to you any major issues. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge God and He will direct your paths.” Look to God to confirm if the person you are dating is the right fit, He won’t lead you astray.
