Family Jewels

Recently while watching A&E I saw a few commercials for Gene Simmons Family Jewels that piqued my interest. Though I have never seen the show I wanted to know why Gene and Shannon, who I assumed were married really weren’t. They have two grown children. The daughter is 19, and I think the son is older than that. I wanted to know why Shannon was upset.

So I watched pieces of a few episodes to find out that after all these years, over 20 years, of being together she was hurt because Gene wouldn’t commit and be faithful to her, even though they lived in the same house, raised two children together and slept in the same bed. In his eyes that was all he was supposed to give her. And for over 20 years, she accepted it. So after therapy, many tears, and honesty, they finally committed to each other, agreed to be faithful to each other and got married.

Ladies, no matter how much we try to say that it doesn’t matter, faithfulness and commitment do matter. (Will and Jada are a blog for another day) We deserve to be treated with respect, and loved fully by someone. Always remember, you are worth it. 1 John 4:18 says: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…” The right man will encourage you to be confident in your relationship. If God’s plan for you includes a mate, he will be willing to be true to you.
