Finish Strong
A popular commercial displays various people dejected, holding a framed half diploma with weary, sullen faces that depict how their lives have changed since they didn’t finish what they started. Their diploma represented their hopes and dreams and a chance at a new better life all lost when they didn’t finish what they started.
We don’t know what happened to steer them off course. Maybe you can relate. Maybe you weren’t ready for college and partied instead of studying causing you to lose your scholarships and financial aid. Maybe you got pregnant and your focus had to change to providing for your child instead of completing your education. Maybe you met the love of your life, your soul mate, and he promised to marry you only to find out that he is dating other people leaving you so emotionally drained that you take a break from school for a semester. Now it is 3 years later and you still haven’t returned.
God knows we have a hard time finishing this race called life and completing the tasks that we have set in our minds. To finish what we start, we must get rid of the things that are preventing us from reaching our goal. In Hebrews 12:1b it says “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Even though God wants us to achieve the goals we have set on earth that align with His plan, He also wants us to strive for the goal of living a Christian life that is pleasing to Him. Finish strong!
