Every Day Distractions
I could not locate my topic for the monthly blog. I knew it was somewhere and after days of searching I requested another copy. I wondered about the name of the topic and of course it is ‘distractions.’ No wonder I was having so many problems. I struggled to set aside time to work on this article; very busy days and nights filled with exhaustion. Distractions in my life caused me to focus on them and not on God. Cell phones, computer games, hours exercising at home and in the gym, shopping trips, preparing to entertain family and friends and watching TV, and the list of things we do that prevent us from reading and meditating on the Word of God continues to grow.
We encounter distractions every day. Texting while walking or driving will cause us to have an accident. Distractions can cause us to move away from our growing relationships with God. When we remove our focus from God to the things going on in our life, our life can become filled with accidents.
When I picked up my Bible the topic was under the Bible. I remembered Matthew 6:33 – But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. When I picked up that Bible there was my answer.
Try this little test: ask God to direct your steps for two days. The next day just go about your day, notice the difference. When we seek God first and let Him direct our days we have fewer distractions. I need His directions, do you?
